Take the Plunge

I knew 2018 was going to bring big things, but I still didn’t expect life to change so much quite so fast! When I first started this blog, I planned to post new content at least once a week, but the challenges of my job (and the toll it has taken on my mental and physical health), have resigned me to posting about twice a month. I’m so thankful to everyone still sticking with me and still reading.

January was a tough month. I turned 27, and had a glamorous night out to celebrate. But the weeks following my birthday were awful. Last week, I put my two weeks in at my job. I don’t have anything else lined up, and even without that worry it’s still a scary decision. But the job was sucking the life out of me, and I couldn’t deal with the anxiety and stress anymore. I think I’ve spent almost two years in a near constant state of anxiety, and I can’t do it anymore. I can’t be my best self like this.

Birthday Prosecco! Fun fact: I only drink about once or twice a year, and I only ever have prosecco or champagne.

Pretty early into my time at this job, I stopped dressing up at all for work. No red lipstick, no pencil skirts, no vintage hairstyles. I didn’t want to be the real me there, and I’m just now realizing how tough that’s been. Dressing up for my birthday was so fun, it had been way too long since I really felt like myself. I also want to point out that it’s very possible to dress retro and glamorous with modern clothes. My skirt is from Ross, top is from H&M, and the shoes are from DSW. The only true vintage in this outfit is my brooch, and I still felt as glam as ever! The lilac poinsettia in my hair is from Shazam Pin Up Hair Flowers. Pinup style is 100% possible on a budget and with modern clothes.

Birthday glamour.

I’m excited to keep creating new content on here and on my Instagram, and after I’ve taken some time to recover, I’m hoping to get back to posting as usual. After all, Viva Las Vegas is less than three months away! I also just did a shoot I’m really excited about, with the lovely Emerald Boes. Her work blows me away, and as soon as I saw she was local, I got in touch right away. We had the best time shooting! You can see the first look at that shoot on my Instagram, and blog posts will be coming very soon.

My new poodle ‘do, for my shoot with Emerald.

Once again, thank you for sticking around. I promise there are exciting things coming!

Until next time,

Violet
