I was inspired by Miss Victory Violet’s My Current MOTD post to make my own. These are all the products I use to create a full pinup face, especially for a photoshoot or event. They include a mix of drugstore and higher end products. I’m planning an upcoming post on my skincare routine as well. I didn’t include lipsticks on this list, because you can read all about my favorite reds here.
I marked two products as TBA: primer and mascara, because the ones I am currently using are from Mary Kay, and I don’t like recommending them. The quality of the products themselves is fine, but I like recommending products that are easier to get, whether at the drugstore, MAC, Sephora, Ulta, or online.
I’m still searching for my holy grail mascara, that lengthens and volumizes without clumping, and stays put all day without transferring beneath my eyes. I also like to be able to wash it off fairly easily at the end of the day, without irritating my eyes. I don’t like wearing false lashes, so mascara is a must for me. I also don’t like enormous mascara brushes. Two products that have come close to what I want are Benefit’s They’re Real! and MAC False Lashes Extreme Black (despite the name it is a mascara and not false lashes). L’Oreal’s original Voluminous Mascara is a cult classic, so I’ve been meaning to try it. I’ve also been meaning to try Benefit’s Roller Lash. Send me your mascara recommendations!

*I can’t recommend this foundation enough! I found out about it because Dita Von Teese recommends it in her beauty book Your Beauty Mark. I wear the lightest neutral shade, but it also comes in warm and cool tones, and is available at most drugstores. It has really nice, buildable coverage. I like to use it with my Sephora brand version of the Beauty Blender (way less expensive than the name brand).
**I love this powder, but I think I might switch to the shade N 20 for my refill, since my skin really is quite neutral toned. The P 20 is more for those with a pink/cool tone. It’s really important to know whether your skin is neutral, warm, or cool toned when shopping for foundation and concealer.
***This is such a pretty, versatile, and affordable palette. It’s my favorite nude palette, and it has both matte and shimmer options. If I could only use one eyeshadow palette it would be this one!
****BEST. EYELINER. EVER. So affordable, so easy to apply, and with the perfect matte black finish. This was recommended by Micheline Pitt. I only use eyeliner for a cat eye on my top lid; I don’t like how liner looks on my bottom lash line, but this product is so great I imagine it would work well for under eye too. I could never give up my liquid eyeliner!
