2018 is almost here, and I am more than ready for it! There have been lots of changes in my life over the past two years, and I feel more prepared than ever to go after what I want. I think 2017 was a rough year for a lot of us, but I want to look back on the great things that happened to me this year. First, of course, is making this blog! Thank you to each and every one of you, for taking the time to visit my blog. Above you can see my most-liked Instagram photos of 2017, I’m so glad everyone liked my Barbie shoot!
The highlight of 2017 has to be meeting Dita Von Teese, of course! Read all about that here. I also worked with La Photographie three times this year, and I’m so happy she made my vintage Barbie fantasy possible. We also did a 1940s portrait session, and a racy between-the-sheets shoot inspired by Sherilyn Fenn’s December 1990 Playboy pictorial. Blog posts on both of those shoots coming soon.
This year also marked my publication in Cosplay Culture Magazine, featuring one of my Sailor Saturn inspired milk bath photos by Melissa Mullins Portraits. It was wild to go to Barnes and Noble and see myself in the magazine aisle!
Coming in 2018:
I have a photoshoot coming up in just a couple of weeks with a new photographer, and I can’t wait! I definitely want to do more shoots in 2018 if possible.
I’m also planning on making my first foray into latex. I’ve admired latex lingerie and clothing for a long time, and I think I’m finally ready to take the plunge! I’ve been swooning over William Wilde’s gorgeous designs, especially the pieces from the Classics Collection. I love the contrast between the fetishistic look of latex and details like bows and pastel colors. Check out Dita Von Teese’s book Fetish and the Art of the Teese (the flip side of Burlesque and the Art of the Teese) for more information on latex. Kiss Me Deadly’s article for latex beginners is also a great read.
In April, something really big is happening: I’ll be attending Viva Las Vegas for the very first time! Not only will it be my first time at Viva, but also my first trip to Las Vegas. Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend is THE place for lovers of pinup, burlesque, and vintage style. It’s a long weekend jam-packed with live music, burlesque performances, fashion shows, vintage shopping, pool parties, and a vintage car show. I’m so excited to attend, and I can’t wait to meet some of my pinup idols! Viva will be held at the Orleans Hotel, from April 19th to the 22nd. There are still tickets available here. Let me know if you’re going! I also have two photoshoots planned while I’m in Vegas that I’m incredibly excited about. I’ll be shooting with Dynamite Dames and Lars Kommienezuspadt, two world-class photographers. Is it April yet??
I hope everyone has a fabulous New Year’s Eve! Stay tuned for lots more glitz and glamour in 2018!
Until next time,
