I’m a big fan of the blog The Lingerie Addict, and I love when they post “Lingerie Lust Object” lists, those opulent, over-the-top pieces that you dream of having in your wardrobe. Those are the pieces that I think of as style unicorns. It might be a “one that got away” item: maybe it was limited edition, or just out of your budget at the time it was released. I also think of style unicorns as those dream wardrobe pieces, the ones you would purchase if you had the paycheck of a Hollywood star. This post is to highlight my unicorns: the ones I’m lucky enough to own, the ones I’m still considering buying, and the ones I know will never be in my closet, either because of the price tag or they’ve been discontinued. I’ll do another post of lingerie unicorns, but in this post I am including dressing gowns, playsuits, and a few accessories. Be prepared to swoon!
I just added this unicorn to my wardrobe! I was so excited that Wheels & Dollbaby brought this playsuit back, it’s been on my wish list for ages. I wish my entire wardrobe could be Wheels & Dollbaby! The Marie Antoinette print is my favorite they’ve ever come out with.
Boudoir Decoratifs Dress – Wheels & Dollbaby
This dress! The satin, the details on the cups, that charm with the velvet bow and pearl. Sadly this dress was limited edition!
Satin Gilda Dress – Wheels & Dollbaby
Have you ever seen a more perfect Jessica Rabbit dress? Modeled by the real-life Jessica Rabbit herself, Tiah Eckhardt, one of my favorite models. This dress also comes in white satin and black satin.
I’m lucky enough to own two of the cardigans from Dita Von Teese’s collaboration with Wheels & Dollbaby, the lavender one and the red one. I’m sad I missed out on this stunning powder blue one though! I’ve been adding a lot of this color to my wardrobe lately. Modeled once again by the lovely Tiah. Stay tuned to find out what colorway they release next (they’re all limited edition).
I will take any of Catherine D’Lish’s extraordinary dressing gowns, but I’m especially partial to this silver stunner, a collaboration with Dita Von Teese. Catherine has made many of Dita’s stage costumes, it would be an honor to own one of her creations.
The perfect winter coat: warm, glamorous, fitted at the waist, and dramatic as hell! I must save up for one of these this winter.
I would love the entire collection, but I’m especially partial to these. They’re made to look like fully-fashioned stockings!
Satine dressing gown – Dollhouse Bettie
This is the style unicorn I’m still kicking myself for not buying, it’s not available anymore. Luckily I do have the matching lingerie set! I got to try the black satin version of this dressing gown on while shopping in the French Quarter in New Orleans several years ago, it was truly a work of art. Can you tell how much I love satin yet? And that champagne color!
There are no words. A masterpiece.
Why yes, I do have an obsession with dressing gowns! These ones are from Dita Von Teese’s loungewear and lingerie collection.
I’m still waiting for an occasion to splurge on this one. That embroidery! It also comes in a cream colorway, as well as full-skirted black and cream versions. I want them all!
My dream shoes! Someday I WILL own a pair of Charlotte Olympia shoes.
There’s going to be lots more Dottie’s Delights in my lingerie unicorns list, don’t worry! I love their collaborations with Mosh, another of my favorite models. This petticoat is such a unique piece.

Le Palais Vintage is designed by the stunning pinup Miss Winny. I love her designs, they used to be available on Ebay but the shop has disappeared. Come back Winny!
