One of the most iconic images of the mid-century pinup is the girl in the bubble bath. If you’re a pinup art fan, then you know the name Gil Elvgren quite well. He was one of the best. Elvgren’s art is the perfect combination of sweet and naughty, which I see as the very definition of pinup.
I knew La Photographie would be the perfect photographer to work with for this shoot, especially with the vintage clawfoot bathtub we used. I did my own hair and makeup, as usual. This was my first shoot where I was completely nude, and it was so empowering! I decided to go bare when looking at Elvgren’s pinup art for inspiration. Of course on the day of the shoot, I forgot the most important thing: bubble bath! But we made do (with shampoo!), and I’m so happy with how the photos turned out. I’m already brainstorming my next in the buff photoshoot.
Coming up: don’t worry, I’m still planning my vintage shopping post, as well as posts on my glamour icons. Thanks for sticking with me!
